Isaiah 62 Prayer Letter - August 2020

Dear prayer partners,

Thank you for joining us again for prayer this month as we prepare here in Jerusalem to worship the Lord during His appointed time at the Feast of Tabernacles. Even though Israel is in a second, more lethal wave of the Coronavirus, we can have confidence and peace about our place and role here. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Therefore, although there is much confusion in our world at present, let us pray to our God with thanksgiving and full assurance in His ability to bring us through!

Joining together with a unified heart around the world is a very special and powerful way to pray. As we reflect on the unsettling events of this year, let us also remember everything God has done for us, and we will realize there is much to be grateful for. Indeed, let us give thanks to God for choosing us to serve Him in these most unusual days.

Isaiah 49:22 says, “Thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I will lift my hand in an oath to the nations, and set up my standard for the peoples; They shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.” As I read this verse, I see Jesus as the standard or banner raised to the nations. And we, His followers, are called to carry the sons and daughters of the scattered Jewish people back to their promised biblical homeland of Israel. My heart rejoices with gratitude that we are the generation blessed to cooperate with our Lord in this process of restoring Israel.

On October 2nd, we will begin the online Global Feast of Tabernacles celebration. While the COVID-19 travel restrictions mean most of us will be unable to come up to Jerusalem for Sukkot, as Zechariah 14:16-18 envisions, we can offer you the chance to visit Jerusalem, tour Israel, and listen to anointed local Israeli speakers during our online Feast. And may we all be together next year in Jerusalem.

Thankfully, we are the generation alive when God is redeeming Jerusalem, and we are called and empowered by His Holy Spirit to show comfort to His people. Isaiah 40:1-2 says, “‘Comfort, yes, comfort my people!’ says your God. Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” The ICEJ has been pursuing this prophetic calling for forty years now, and with your prayer support this ministry of comfort will continue bearing good fruit in the years ahead.

So, this month as we seek the Lord in prayer, let us give thanks to Him, who gives us the victory every time through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor 15:57)

Shalom from Jerusalem!
