Turkish journalist on Gaza flotilla says IDF soldiers acted with restraint

A Turkish reporter who was a passenger on the hostile Gaza aid flotilla flagship in May has told an Israeli television program that Israeli soldiers boarding the vessel refrained from firing back at their attackers until their lives were clearly in danger. In a recent interview with Israel TV Channel 1, Turkish journalist Azefik Dinc, who was on board the Mavi Marmara flotilla ship and quickly wrote a book about it, said that no shots were fired from the Israeli helicopters and that IDF soldiers did not open fire until their lives were in danger. According to Dinc, it was not until the soldiers realized that some of their fellow commandoes’ lives were in danger that they began using live ammunition. Dinc's descriptions sharply contradict the biased testimonies of IHH activists which were the basis for a report recently completed by the UN Human Rights Council.
