New Gaza flotilla expected to arrive in El-Arish, Egypt

A new 'Gaza aid' flotilla sponsored by "Viva Palestina" will leave Syria for the Egyptian port of El-Arish on Monday, after Cairo gave its approval for the aid shipments and activists on board to then travel by land into Gaza through he Rafah border crossing. However, the founder of Viva Palestina, controversial British MP George Galloway, will not be allowed to accompany the convoy into Gaza. The IDF will be monitoring the flotilla on its way past the Israeli coast. Pro-Palestinian activists from Britain arrived in the Syrian port of Latakia on Sunday to join the flotilla, which also includes activists from Morocco, Algeria, Jordan and Gulf states. Members of Viva Palestina also took part in the ill-fated Mavi Marmara flotilla from Turkey in May, as well as an earlier flotilla that docked at El-Arish last autumn and engaged in violent clashes with Egyptian security forces trying to bust its way into Gaza..
