Israeli woman delivered son after being shot by Palestinian gunmen

On the Sunday evening when the ten-month settlement freeze was set to expire on September 26, Palestinian gunmen opened fire on two Israeli cars in the West Bank, lightly wounding one of the drivers and his pregnant wife. The wounded couple managed to drive themselves to a junction where they were able to stop a police car on patrol, who took them to a nearby hospital. Shortly after their arrival at the hospital, the woman gave birth to a son. "This was not how I planned to bring a child into the world," Sharon Zucker told Ha’aretz. The attack took place just hours before the Israeli settlement freeze was due to expire at midnight. Several week earlier, a similar drive-by shooting claimed four Israeli lives near Hebron while several others were wounded in a roadside ambush northeast of Ramallah.
