Israeli ties with Greece grow stronger

Israel is building up and strengthening its ties with Greece as Turkey has decided to turn their back on the country. Israel is at the moment taking part, together with Greece in a 4 day joint military exercise, followed up by a regional visit by Greece foreign minister Dimitris Droutsas. Other high officials from the Greek Prime Minister’s office have already been in the country to “map out fields of cooperation”. Benjamin Netanyahu in his turn paid the first visit by an Israeli PM to the country in August; one month after Greece PM George Papandreou visited the country. One of the areas where the two countries are looking to cooperate is in the building of an underwater pipeline from Israel to Greece, which would make it possible for Israel to deliver natural gas to Europe.
