IAI unveils new Panther UAV

Israeli Aircraft Industries unveiled their latest marvel during a technology expo held at Latrun on Tuesday. The “Panther” is a revolutionary new tilt-rotor UAV, scheduled to also be displayed at a US Army exposition in Washington later in October. The Panther is the first UAV to combine the range and altitude of a fixed wing aircraft with Vertical Takeoff and Landing capabilities. IAI has patented the technology, which military aviation experts agree will someday be the gold standard for military UAVs. "The Panther's intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, along with its effective use of changing flight dynamics, make it a unique and invaluable asset on the tactical battlefield for the Israel Defense Forces and for foreign customers,” said Itzhak Nissan, President and CEO of IAI. “We consider the innovative technology used in this system to be ground-breaking." The Panther, which only weighs around 65 kg, can loiter for approximately 6 hours at an altitude of up to 10,000 feet, with a radius of operation of over 60 km. Israeli built UAV’s have been purchased by several first-tier armies and are now deployed in Afghanistan by the armies of Canada, Germany, France and the US.
