Fischer honored by European economic journal

In September, Bank of Israel governor Stanley Fischer was named as one of the world’s top 10 central bankers by the renowned Global Finance magazine. This month his spirit of excellence was once again honored when Euromoney, an international magazine specialized in banking and finance gave him the title of the "central bank governor of the year" “for successfully managing the economy through the aftermath of the global financial crisis”. Fischer’s outstanding performances contributed to Israel’s admittance to the prestigious OECD earlier this year. The award was presented to Fischer on Sunday at the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington. According to Euromoney, “His innovative move towards an interventionist exchange-rate policy, whilst controversial at the time, has bolstered Israel’s reserves while boosting the country’s exports, which are key to its economic performance."
