EU official confirms no shortages is Gaza

According to EU diplomat Christian Berger, the shops in Gaza are full of consumer goods, six months ago after the Hamas terror militia managed to convince many world leaders that the Palestinians in Gaza were suffering from an Israeli import ban on such items as coriander. Asked if there was a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Berger said it “is a matter of definition” since although there is plenty to buy, unemployment is high and many people do not have the money to buy all the available goods. Private industry in Gaza had been hindered by the fact that the only construction materials allowed in were for construction of specific projects funded by the international community and approved by the Palestinian Authority. The restrictions were put in place by Israel out of concern Hamas would intercept shipments of building materials into Gaza and divert them to constructing bunkers and rockets. There is still an embargo on dual-use products which could be used by Hamas for military purposes.
